ALL-STARS BATTLE TO THE BOX: BBL Round 19

ALL-STARS BATTLE TO THE BOX: BBL Round 19

The British Basketball All-Stars Championship will return on Sunday, October 14. The top seven teams from the BBL Championship at the end of the season will join defending All-Stars champions London Lions for the showpiece event at Copper Box Arena, London and we’ll track who is in line to feature at the tournament in our regular ‘Battle To The Box’ feature.

Leicester Riders increased their lead at the top of the BBL with a 2-0 weekend which saw them record victories over Worcester Wolves and Manchester Giants.

Reigning British Basketball All-Stars Champions London Lions inflicted just a fourth defeat of the season on Esh Group Newcastle Eagles, who remain second but are now six points behind Riders despite also beating Giants over the weekend.

Wolves and DBL Sharks Sheffield both played double headers during round 19 of the BBL season and each won one and lost one of their fixtures. Wolves recovered from their 81-76 loss to Riders with a 101-76 success over Leeds Force while Sharks went down 85-80 to Plymouth Raiders two days after registering an 83-79 win over Cheshire Pheonix.

Elsewhere, Glasgow Rocks consolidated their position in third by beating Bristol Flyers 84-79 at Emirates Arena. Flyers currently lie eighth in the BBL Standings, which would be enough to secure qualification for the British Basketball All-Stars Championship should defending champions London Lions finish inside the top seven on the ladder at the end of the season.

The British Basketball All-Stars Championship will return on Sunday, October 14 at the Copper Box Arena, London, with tickets on pre-sale from Monday, February 12 and general sale on Tuesday, February 13.
